Government Announces Major EPFO Modernisation Reforms

The government aims to extend social security coverage to 100 crore citizens by March 2026.
Indian Railways to Double Originating Train Capacity by 2030
Indian Railways plans to double originating train capacity in 48 major cities by 2030.
The initiative includes:
- New platforms and terminal expansions
- Upgraded signalling systems
- Enhanced maintenance infrastructure
This move will help reduce congestion, improve punctuality, and meet rising passenger demand.
NATGRID Integrated with NPR to Strengthen Criminal Investigations
The Indian government has integrated NATGRID with the National Population Register (NPR) to enhance intelligence gathering and speed up criminal investigations.
The integration enables authorised agencies to access verified demographic and family-linked data, supporting:
- Suspect identification
- Network mapping
- Movement tracking
NATGRID was established after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and consolidates data from over 20 civil and commercial databases.
India Launches First-Ever Weapon Tracking Database
India introduced its first “Lost, Looted and Recovered Firearm” database, unveiled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Anti-Terror Conference 2025.
Developed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the platform:

First Indian Standard for Agarbattis Announced
India unveiled its first standard for agarbattis – IS 19412:2025 – on National Consumer Day 2025.

Sand Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik Creates World Record
Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created the world’s largest Santa Claus sand sculpture at Niladri Beach, Puri, Odisha.
