RRB NTPC Typing Test Series – Free Online Practice for Junior Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist & Junior Account Assistant cum Typist
- The total time allotted for this typing test is 10 minutes. The timer will begin as soon as you start typing.
- A 1-minute warm-up / familiarisation session is provided before the actual test begins. Use this time to get comfortable with the keyboard. This session is not evaluated.
- You must type in English only as per the language selected for this test series. Ensure you are typing on a standard QWERTY keyboard.
- The passage will appear in the upper portion of the screen. Type your response in the input area provided below it.
- The Backspace key, Delete key, and all cursor movement/arrow keys are not permitted during the test. Any attempt to use these keys will not alter the typed content. Train yourself to type accurately the first time.
- No word selection, error highlighting, spell-check, or autocorrect feature will be available during the test. Type carefully without relying on any editing assistance.
- If you complete the passage before the 10 minutes are over, you may retype the passage from the beginning. The entire typed content — including the retyped portion — will be evaluated.
- Candidates who do not type a minimum of 300 words in English within the 10-minute duration will be treated as disqualified. Ensure you type continuously without long pauses.
- The test is strictly case-sensitive. Any incorrect use of capital or small letters will be counted as a Half Mistake.
- Do not insert unnecessary spaces. Extra spaces between words or within a word will be counted as a Half Mistake.
- Incorrect spelling of any word — including missing letters, added letters, or substituted letters — will be counted as a Full Mistake.
- Every word must be typed exactly as shown in the passage. Incomplete words (partially typed words) will be counted as Full Mistakes.
- Do not omit any word or portion of the passage. Any word left untyped will be counted as a Full Mistake (Omission Error).
- Do not add words not present in the passage. Extra words or repeated words will be counted as Full Mistakes (Addition / Repetition Errors).
- Do not substitute or replace the original word with a different word. Using any word other than what is given in the passage will be counted as a Full Mistake (Substitution Error).
- If a group of words or lines is wrongly repeated, only one mistake will be counted for the entire repetition. However, the repeated words will not be included in the total word count.
- Punctuation errors — missing, added, or substituted punctuation marks — will be counted as Half Mistakes.
- Transposition errors — where two words in the passage are swapped in the typed output — will be counted as Half Mistakes.
- Scoring is based on Net WPM (Words Per Minute) after error deduction:A 5% error allowance is applied to total words typed.
- Beyond that, every net mistake results in a deduction of 10 words from your total count.
- Formula: Net WPM = (Total Words Typed − Final Mistake Count × 10) ÷ 10
- The minimum qualifying speed is 30 WPM (Net) for English.
- The Typing Skill Test is qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in this test are not added to the final merit list. However, failure to achieve the minimum speed will result in disqualification from the recruitment process.
- Candidates may scroll through the passage using the scroll bar on the right side of the screen or by using the Up/Down arrow keys on the keyboard. Mouse scrolling is not available during the test.
- Do not close the browser or navigate away from the test window once the test has started. Doing so will end your session and the test will be submitted as-is.
- Ensure you are on a desktop or laptop computer with a physical keyboard before beginning. Mobile devices and touchscreen inputs are not supported.
